The Plant Supervisor is responsible for supporting operations (production and warehousing activities) at the Ottawa Plant, including direct responsibility for ensuring completion of designated quality activities in support of food safety and quality programs, employee and union relations, and health and safety initiatives. and participation in capital equipment planning, cost reduction initiatives, and process improvement projects. Special missions include:

  • Oversee production planning, purchasing of finished products, packaging and materials at Ottawa and all other Agropur supply facilities;
  • Prepares the daily production plan;
  • Purchase all raw materials;
  • Plan, manage and monitor product-related activities in connection with inventory management, receiving and facility operations;
  • Helps maintain food quality, safety and defense requirements;
  • Develop working methods and tools to optimize the timing of operations, maximize the profitability of each production activity and reduce costs;
  • Manages and tracks inventory movement (procurement, receiving). It also monitors all receiving and shipping activities;
  • Responsible for ensuring order fulfillment rates meet company standards;
  • Provides management and personnel supervision support, training and information to coordinators responsible for production management and logistics;
  • Manages all products purchased for the Ontario market.
  • Participates in special projects – trial runs, new businesses, capital projects, etc.;
  • Leads the development of an inventory management model and related inventory management tools with Warehouse Management;
  • Manages co-packers and private label customers regarding production planning;
  • Maximizes the use of the facility’s capital assets to adequately meet the production and purchasing requirements of the facility’s various departments;
  • Main contact to National Sales Director and National Sales Planning Manager for all Sales inquiries.
  • To carry out other duties assigned.

Requirements

  • College degree or university degree in a relevant discipline (Business, Operations Management or CAPICS);
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of management experience in production/warehousing, preferably in the unionized food/beverage industry;
  • Industry-related work experience, particularly in the fields of supply and logistics, will also be taken into account.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) will be considered an asset;
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, VELO, Discoverer and Lotus Notes (in-house systems) preferred;
  • Strong interpersonal relationships, communication, leadership skills and the ability to work in a team environment;
  • You will be considered a bilingual English/French asset.
